Restaurant fires waiter who wrote 'fat girls' on receipt

I wonder if the restaurant contacted the girls directly or just through their Facebook posting? If it was only the Facebook posting, I'd think it was more an attempt to save face with the public, rather than a sincere attempt at an apology.
